Her Excellency Longdy Sannara Presides over Workshop on “National and International Laws Related to Transnational Crime and Legal Instruments in Combating Human Trafficking”
Speaking at the opening of the workshop on “National and International Laws Related to Transnational Crime and Legal Instruments in Combating Human Trafficking”—held on August 21, 2026, at the Department of Performing Arts—Her Excellency Longdy Sannara, Secretary of State, Head of the Working Group to Prevent and Combat All Forms of Human Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation of Women and Children, and high representative of Her Excellency Academician Minister, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, highlighted the growing challenges of global offenses:
Currently, transnational crime, particularly human trafficking, has become a pressing issue and a severe threat to security, humanitarian values, human rights, and socio-economic development at both regional and global levels. While rapid technological advancement and global connectivity offer numerous benefits, they also provide opportunities for criminal groups to employ increasingly complex, sophisticated, and multifaceted tactics in committing cross-border offenses.
To effectively prevent and suppress these crimes, relying solely on domestic legal measures is insufficient. It demands a deep understanding of national legal instruments as well as international conventions and treaties, close cooperation among competent authorities, law enforcement agencies, civil society organizations, and international partners, alongside continuous capacity building for law enforcement officers and relevant stakeholders to stay ahead of evolving crime trends.
The workshop was organized with the objective of enhancing knowledge, sharing practical experiences, and strengthening understanding of national and international legal frameworks concerning transnational crime and anti-human trafficking, enabling officers to apply these insights effectively in the daily missions and operations of their respective departments and units.
