His Excellency Prak Sonnara Presides over Introductory Workshop on “Preparing a Teacher Guidebook on Khmer Rouge History for General Secondary Education”
On the morning of August 24, 2026, His Excellency Prak Sonnara, Secretary of State and high representative of Her Excellency Academician Minister, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, presided over the introductory workshop on “Preparing a Teacher Guidebook on Khmer Rouge History for General Secondary Education” at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. The workshop was attended by a total of 41 participants, including history teachers from various provinces and Phnom Penh, alongside representatives from relevant ministries, institutions involved in Khmer Rouge history education, and the S-21 Museum.
This project is implemented in collaboration between the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, and UNESCO Phnom Penh, with support from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
The workshop was organized to collect inputs and practical experiences from history teachers, strengthen the capacity and confidence of core trainers, and provide active learning methodologies to make history instruction more engaging and dynamic. Furthermore, the initiative emphasizes the integration of peace education and global citizenship into the secondary school curriculum.
