National Authority for Preah Vihear Organizes Educational and Outreach Program for Students and Community Members in Koh Ker Village within the Koh Ker Temple Resort

On Tuesday, the 1st Waning Moon of the First Month of Āsāḍha, Year of the Horse, Buddhist Era 2570, corresponding to June 30, 2026, the National Authority for Preah Vihear organized a heritage education program for a total of 56 students and local residents in Koh Ker village, located within the Koh Ker resort. The purpose of this program was to provide them with knowledge regarding the history of the ancient capital, the factors leading to the damage of the temples, and the Royal Government’s conservation and restoration efforts. It also aimed to foster a spirit of love for ancient Khmer temples and encourage collective participation in their preservation.

During the educational program, the team also highlighted the Koh Ker Red Temple (Prasat Krahom) conservation and restoration project, funded by the International Alliance for the Protection of Heritage in Conflict Areas (ALIPH) of Switzerland. They explained the project to the participants by presenting the temple’s condition before and after restoration, the techniques used in restoring ancient temples, and by having the students practice coloring drawings of the Red Temple. Furthermore, the team showcased the statue of Shiva Nataraja (Dancing Shiva) following its successful restoration by the French School of the Far East (EFEO) in Siem Reap province.
