H.E. Net Phoumary Presides Over Workshop on “The Role of Youth in Contributing to the Protection and Preservation of Ancestral Traditional Culture”
On July 28, 2026, H.E. Net Phoumary, Secretary of State, high representative of Her Excellency Academician Dr. Phoeurng Sackona, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, presided over the opening of a workshop on “The Role of Youth in Contributing to the Protection and Preservation of Ancestral Traditional Culture,” held at the Ministry’s headquarters. The workshop was organized to:
- Encourage youth engagement in the digital era: Motivate young people—the pillars of the nation—to use modern technology and social media positively to promote, preserve, and further develop national culture.
- Awaken and raise awareness: Instill a spirit of love, appreciation of values, and national pride regarding tangible and intangible cultural heritage assets among the youth.
- Foster discussion: Provide an opportunity for young people to gather, exchange views and personal perspectives, and learn further from speakers about joint strategies to protect national culture.
On that occasion, Her Excellency the Secretary of State highlighted the war event from last year when neighboring countries invaded Cambodian territory. She urged all young people to remember that history clearly, transform the pain into motivation, and join hands to preserve and protect those cultural legacies to ensure they endure forever.
Her Excellency emphasized that organizing this workshop directly addresses the orientation and needs of Cambodian youth, who represent potential sons and daughters and a strong foundation for the nation’s future. Youth are an essential driving force in preserving, protecting, and conserving ancestral cultural heritage, traditions, customs, and practices—which constitute a noble national identity—while proudly raising the profile of national culture on the international stage. She further underscored that the survival of the national cultural heritage ultimately relies on all the younger generations.
