A Cambodian arts delegation of 15 members, led by Mr. Kong Sothearith and Ms. Meng Kosoma, brought classical and traditional dance forms to perform at the 14th Lancang-Mekong Cultural and Art Festival in Jinghong City, Xishuangbanna Autonomous Prefecture.
Following two full days of intensive rehearsals, on the evening of October 28, 2026, at the Min Tang National Park Theater, delegates from all six Lancang-Mekong countries attended the opening ceremony of the 14th Lancang-Mekong Cultural and Art Festival, alongside leaders from Yunnan Province and Xishuangbanna Autonomous Prefecture.
Approximately 2,000 spectators attended the artistic performance during this festival, which featured a diverse range of art forms, including classical, traditional, song, music, contemporary, and light music ensembles. The performances showcased the vibrant and fine artistic traditions of each nation. Speaking on the occasion, His Excellency MA ZHIGANG, Secretary-General of the Communist Party Committee of Xishuangbanna Autonomous Prefecture, and His Excellency DAO WEN, Governor of Xishuangbanna Autonomous Prefecture, emphasized that this program is not merely an artistic exchange, but also a contribution to preserving cultural heritage, fostering people-to-people exchanges, boosting tourism, opening up job markets and trade, and serving as vital cultural diplomacy that must be continued. Furthermore, they committed to maintaining good cooperation among regional countries by helping to preserve, protect, and conserve humanity’s intangible cultural heritage. The following day, all arts troupes proceeded to the Jinghong Riverside Stage to deliver joint artistic performances for the general public.
In addition to the main performance schedule, the organizing committee arranged study tours for the Cambodian arts delegation and all other artistic delegates to explore cultural and historical tourism sites, natural attractions, art museums, and ethnic minority villages located within Xishuangbanna Autonomous Prefecture.
