Letter of Condolences to Ms. Som Sokanchana and her family
On the afternoon of Wednesday, May 6, 2026, Mr. Moun Sopheap, Director of the Siem Reap Provincial Department of Culture and Fine Arts and high representative of Her Excellency Academician Dr. Phoeurng Sackona, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, along with colleagues, brought a contribution and a letter of condolences from the Minister to attend the funeral of Mr. Phai Phongrak. Mr. Phai Phongrak passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at 8:30 AM at the age of 67 due to illness.
On this sorrowful occasion, we express our deepest condolences and profound sympathy to his wife and family. The passing of Mr. Phai Phongrak is the loss of a beloved husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather who lived with great virtue. It is also the loss of an outstanding former singer who contributed to promoting the value of Khmer vocal arts. Although Mr. Phai Phongrak has departed this world, his voice and musical legacy will remain forever in the hearts of the public, both locally and abroad.
Once again, we—the leadership and all civil servants of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts—share this immense grief and heartfelt sorrow with his wife and family. We offer our prayers for the soul of Mr. Phai Phongrak to rest in eternal peace.
