Preah Vihear National Authority Receives Seven Types of Antiquities from District Administration and Monks in Choam Ksant District, Preah Vihear Province
The Preah Vihear National Authority has received seven types of antiquities from the district administration and monks residing at Wat Tuol Andet in Choam Ksant District, Preah Vihear Province. These artifacts will be stored, cataloged, conserved, and further analyzed at the Samdech Techo Hun Sen Preah Vihear Eco-Global Museum workshop.
H.E. Phin Samnang, Director of the Department of Research, Training, and Documentation, stated that on May 4, 2026, Mr. Mok Duong, Deputy Director of the Department, and his team personally traveled to Choam Ksant District to receive the artifacts. The antiquities include one sandstone torso of a female deity provided by Ms. Von Ratana, Deputy Governor of Choam Ksant District. Six other art objects include one ceramic jar, two fragments of decorative columns (colonnettes), one female deity carving, one dancing female deity carving, and one sandstone piece likely identified as a “Thmor Bos” (ritual stone).
He specified that the district administration and the monks received these antiquities from local citizens who had discovered them previously and subsequently handed them over to the Preah Vihear National Authority for preservation and conservation.
The Preah Vihear National Authority expresses its gratitude to the local authorities, monks, and citizens for their consistent cooperation in providing statues and ancient art objects to experts for safekeeping. The Authority considers these donations a significant contribution to the protection and maintenance of antiquities, which serve as invaluable cultural heritage for the nation and future generations.
