Ad Hoc Experts Inspect Work Projects at West Mebon Temple
On June 6, 2026, the Ad Hoc experts of the International Coordinating Committee for the Safeguarding and Development of the Historic Site of Angkor and Sambor Prei Kuk (ICC-Angkor/Sambor Prei Kuk), led by H.E. Dr. Hang Peou, Director General of the APSARA National Authority, inspected restoration projects at the West Mebon temple.
During the visit, Cambodian specialists delivered presentations on various projects regarding the restoration, conservation, and tour-circuit management of West Mebon temple. This presentation aimed to gather evaluations and additional recommendations to ensure compliance with the Angkor Charter and international technical standards.
This marked the final day of field inspections by the expert team across various restoration sites, ahead of the major ICC-Angkor/Sambor Prei Kuk meeting scheduled for June 9–10, 2026, which marks the 42nd Technical Session.
Over the past week, the Ad Hoc expert team has completed inspections at several heritage locations, including Bakong, Banteay Samre, Ta Prohm, Baksei Chamkrong, East Baray, Ta Som, the Royal Palace of Angkor Thom (Phimeanakas), Ta Nei, Bayon, Phnom Krom, Angkor Wat, and finally, West Mebon.
