Consultation workshop on research on social inclusion in the creative economy sector in Cambodia.
On October 26, 2026, the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, in cooperation with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), organized a consultation workshop on “Research on Social Inclusion in the Creative Economy Sector in Cambodia” under the high chairmanship of Her Excellency Pen Monimkara, Secretary of State and high representative of Her Excellency Academician Minister Phoeurng Sackona, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, and Mr. Matthieu Cognac, representative of UN DESA.
This workshop was organized to gain a deeper understanding of the needs and opportunities for several key target groups, including: youth, older persons, persons with disabilities, indigenous peoples and ethnic minorities, informal economy workers, individuals with diverse gender identities (LGBTQI+), and women.
The program was attended by representatives from inter-ministerial institutions, organizations, associations, and the relevant private sector to gather additional inputs for the research report, providing recommendations to the Royal Government of Cambodia on integrating social inclusion into the National Policy on Culture and Creative Industries currently being drafted by the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts.
The joint efforts between the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts and UN DESA clearly reflect a high commitment to ensuring that “no one is left behind” in the development of the cultural and creative economy sector in Cambodia.
