On the afternoon of October 2, 2026, Her Excellency Academician Phoeurng Sackona, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, chaired a consultative meeting with the Phnom Srok Khmer Golden Silk Weavers Artisans Association at the Ministry headquarters. The meeting was attended by ministry leaders, technical officials, representatives of the association, artisans, and weavers involved in the Khmer silk weaving sector.

The meeting was attended by ministry leaders, technical officials, representatives of the association, artisans, and weavers involved in the Khmer silk weaving sector.

The meeting aimed to discuss various challenges, particularly market access and intellectual property issues related to Khmer silk weaving, as well as to examine and study the feasibility of implementing appropriate protective measures to enhance the value and prestige of Khmer silk weaving.

Simultaneously, Her Excellency Academician Minister emphasized the importance of fostering close cooperation among relevant ministries, institutions, experts, associations, artisans, and weavers to jointly seek solutions to challenges and to document the knowledge, skills, and traditions of Khmer silk weaving.

These efforts aim to ensure the protection and transmission of Khmer silk weaving knowledge, skills, and traditions to future generations, while contributing to the promotion and dissemination of Khmer silk craftsmanship to increase its value and recognition both nationally and internationally.
