Her Excellency Pen Monimakara Presides over Workshop on Report Preparation and Promotion of Intangible Cultural Heritage under UNESCO 2003 Convention
On the morning of August 28, 2026, Her Excellency Pen Monimakara, Secretary of State and high representative of Her Excellency Academician Minister Phoeurng Sackona, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, presided over the opening of a workshop on “Report Preparation and Promotion of Intangible Cultural Heritage under the 2003 UNESCO Convention” at the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts.
The workshop brought together ministry leadership, technical officials, representatives from inter-ministerial institutions, provincial/capital culture departments, experts, researchers, intangible cultural heritage community representatives, the Bophana Audiovisual Center, development partners, and UNESCO Phnom Penh delegates.
Organized by the Cambodian National Commission for UNESCO, the workshop aimed to raise awareness regarding the transition to a single global reporting system and updated reporting formats under the 2003 UNESCO Convention, while strengthening inter-institutional coordination. Additionally, the session served to review Cambodia’s prior reporting practices, collect data from stakeholders, and highlight key national efforts in safeguarding and promoting intangible cultural heritage to ensure timely report submissions in alignment with UNESCO guidelines.
