Her Excellency Academician Minister Phoeurng Sackona Leads Delegation to Pay Condolences and Respects to Late His Excellency Academician Chan Sarun
On the afternoon of Tuesday, September 1, 2026, Her Excellency Academician Minister Phoeurng Sackona, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, led a delegation to lay a wreath and pay final respects to the late His Excellency Academician Chan Sarun, former Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries and former Member of Parliament for Takeo Province, husband of Lok Chumteav Maha Upasika Sok Keo Seri Thamma Sokhaphirat. His Excellency passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026, at 00:29 AM at the age of 81 due to natural causes.
On behalf of the leadership and all civil servants of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, Her Excellency expressed her deepest sympathies and condolences to Lok Chumteav Maha Upasika and the grieving family for the loss of His Excellency Academician Chan Sarun. His passing represents the loss of a beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and great-grandfather, as well as an outstanding statesman who dedicated his intellect, wisdom, and energy to actively supporting the Royal Government and advancing Cambodia’s agricultural sector for the supreme interest of the nation and its people.
The ministry delegation shared in this profound sorrow with the family and offered prayers for the soul of His Excellency Academician Chan Sarun to rest in eternal peace.
