Her Excellency Academician Minister Phoeurng Sackona Presides over 4th Cambodia Asia Film Festival Awards Ceremony
On the evening of August 27, 2026, Her Excellency Academician Minister Phoeurng Sackona, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, presided over the red carpet and awards ceremony of the 4th Cambodia Asia Film Festival at Chaktomuk Conference Hall. The event was attended by approximately 600 participants, including representatives from relevant ministries and institutions, film producers, industry experts, as well as national and international actors and actresses.
Speaking on the occasion, Her Excellency highlighted that since its establishment in 2022, the Cambodia Asia Film Festival has evolved into a vital platform for gathering and showcasing diverse cinematic works from across Asia. It serves as a meeting place for screenwriters, directors, producers, artists, and film professionals to exchange innovative ideas, build professional networks, and explore film co-production opportunities. Additionally, the festival conducts in-depth discussions on film industry development, addressing challenges and opportunities to build an ecosystem that drives inclusive, sustainable economic growth while preserving national identity.
Her Excellency added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, the Royal Government of Cambodia established an inter-ministerial working group to support film tourism. Recognized as an innovative tourism model playing a key role in the global economy, the soft power of cinema serves as a powerful instrument to promote natural beauty, cultural heritage, architecture, and local traditions to the world. In doing so, film tourism generates jobs and revenue for local communities through accommodation, catering, transport, guiding, handicrafts, and performing arts.
The 4th Cambodia Asia Film Festival was organized through a collaboration between the Cambodia Asia Film Festival Committee and the Department of Film Arts and Cultural Diffusion, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts.
