On the afternoon of October 6, 2026, at the Ministry headquarters, Her Excellency Academician Phoeurng Sackona, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, presided over the opening ceremony of an orientation workshop on “Khmer Sbai and Its Use in Traditional Customs and Khmer Weddings.” The event was attended by more than 300 participants, including Their Excellencies, ministry leadership, civil servants, artists, bridal makeup and attire specialists, fashion designers, and relevant stakeholders.
Speaking on the occasion, Her Excellency Academician Minister stated that the purpose of organizing this workshop was to raise awareness and foster a deeper understanding of the Khmer Sbai, an invaluable component of national cultural heritage deeply intertwined with daily life, customs, traditions, and beliefs—particularly in weddings and traditional festivals. The use of Sbai is not merely for aesthetic adornment, but also carries profound symbolic meaning representing the dignity and identity of Khmer women, as well as reflecting the richness of national art, traditions, and cultural heritage.
