Her Excellency Pen Munimakara, Representative of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, Attended as a Speaker at the Seminar on “Humane and Civilized Artificial Intelligence for Cambodia”
On the morning of July 15, 2026, Her Excellency Pen Munimakara, Secretary of State and Representative of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, participated as a speaker in the seminar on “Humane and Civilized Artificial Intelligence for Cambodia.” The event was organized at the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation (MISTI) and was presided over by His Excellency Prof. Dr. Chhem Kieth Rethy, Senior Minister in Charge of Special Missions and Chairman of the Economic, Social and Cultural Council, and His Excellency Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation. The seminar was also attended by representatives from UNESCO, the Royal University of Phnom Penh, various state and private institutions, and numerous students.
On this occasion, Her Excellency highlighted the importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and pointed out the current challenges in utilizing this technology. She stated that the development and use of artificial intelligence must be built upon the foundations of ethics, human dignity, and respect for national cultural identity to ensure that this technology can contribute to promoting Khmer cultural values and enhancing the accurate representation of the national identity.
At the same time, the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts will continue to support and actively participate in promoting the use of new technologies, as well as engage in various initiatives related to the creation of AI governance policies to ensure that artificial intelligence serves as a tool for the benefit of humanity. The development of AI must be ethical, humane, and civilized, not only serving the economy but also firmly and sustainably preserving and elevating the Khmer cultural identity.
