ICC-Angkor/Sambor Prei Kuk Ad-hoc Experts Inspect Temple Restoration Sites Ahead of the 42nd Technical Committee Meeting

Siem Reap Province: A team of ad-hoc experts from the International Coordinating Committee for the Safeguarding and Development of the Historic Site of Angkor and Sambor Prei Kuk (ICC-Angkor/Sambor Prei Kuk) has begun inspecting major temple restoration sites in the Angkor archaeological resort to prepare for the official opening of the 42nd Technical Committee Meeting.

This inspection activity commenced on June 1, 2026, with the expert team visiting several major temples, including Bakong Temple, Banteay Samre Temple, and Ta Prohm Temple.

During this inspection process, the expert team listened to detailed presentations given by the experts of each site regarding work progress, techniques, and challenges. They also provided further key recommendations and guidance to ensure that conservation and restoration work achieves higher quality and complies correctly with international technical standards.

The ICC-Angkor/Sambor Prei Kuk International Committee will provide recommendations during the 42nd Technical Committee Meeting on the conservation, development, and preservation of the Angkor resort, which will take place in Siem Reap province on the upcoming June 9-10, 2026.
