Inauguration Ceremony of the Temporary Exhibition Under the Theme “Meet Angkor Wat: Treasures from the National Museum of Cambodia”
On the morning of Thursday, April 30, 2026, Her Excellency Academician Dr. Phoeurng Sackona, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts and Chairperson of the Inter-Ministerial Committee for the Coordination, Evaluation, and Inspection of Khmer Antiquities for International Exhibition, presided over the inauguration of the temporary exhibition themed “Meet Angkor Wat: Treasures from the National Museum of Cambodia.” This exhibition features 122 Khmer antiquities and will be on display at the Meet You Museum in Beijing from May 1 to August 30, 2026.
It is worth noting that this exhibition was previously displayed at the South China Sea Museum in Hainan Province for three months, attracting up to 513,000 visitors. This attendance figure demonstrates the strong interest the Chinese people have in Khmer culture and history. This event reflects the success of promoting Khmer culture through the mechanism of loaning sculptures for display abroad. This activity is part of the promotion and attraction of Chinese tourists to visit Cambodia in the future.
This exhibition is a traveling exhibition project that will be held at several museum locations across China. The exhibition is organized through cooperation between the Department of Museums, Art Exhibitions China, and the Meet You Museum, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
