National Authority for Preah Vihear Launches Phase 2 of Prasat Pram Conservation and Restoration Project
On the morning of September 8, 2026, the Department of Conservation and Archaeology of the National Authority for Preah Vihear (NAPV) held a traditional blessing ceremony to officially launch Phase 2 of the Prasat Pram Conservation and Restoration Project. The ceremony was led by His Excellency Ea Darith, Director of the Department, and Mr. Phin Phakdey, Deputy Director, alongside technical teams and skilled restoration workers.
The 4-month Phase 2 project is being conducted in accordance with the action plan and technical guidelines recommended by the International Ad-Hoc Experts during their meeting on March 19, 2026. The project aims to prevent further structural deterioration, preserve the site’s historical value, and ensure safety for tourists, building upon Phase 1 achievements in 2025 which focused on the southern and central brick towers.
Key scope of work for Phase 2 includes:
- Restoring the northern brick tower and pruning overhanging tree branches to relieve weight load from the structure
- Installing emergency structural shoring for the northern laterite library, which is currently at high risk of collapse
- Conserving and stabilizing 4 carved lintels of the temple towers and libraries
